Cairns Indigenous Art Fair attracted 10,000 visitors with more than $500,000 worth of art sold. Dates for the next event will be announced shortly.
The inaugural Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) was officially opened by the Queensland Premier and Minister for The Arts Anna Bligh on Thursday 20 August
2009. The video includes highlights from her opening speech, a Q&A interview
during her tour of the art fair and a performance by the Aurukun Songmen and Dancers who appeared as part of the opening celebrations.
Michael 'Boiyool' Anning lives in Ravenshoe on the Atherton Tablelands. In a rare interview Boiyool talks about his art, his people and life as
a rainforest artist in Far North Queensland. Boiyool's work will be exhibited at Cairns Indigenous Art Fair in August 2009.
