INDIGENOUS ART CENTRES

Indigenous art centres play an important role in Far North Queensland communities by providing opportunities for building skills and developing creative networks. They have a positive, welcoming atmosphere and are often meeting places for Elders to share their knowledge and stories. There are 12 art centres and three hubs in the Backing Indigenous Arts network in Far North Queensland, the Cape York Peninsula, Gulf of Carpentaria and the Torres Strait.
