Cairns Indigenous Art Fair is presented by Arts Queensland, part of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Queensland Government.
Michael Snelling: Artistic Director Michael is a former Chief Executive Officer of Major Brisbane Festivals, responsible for the presentation of the Riverfestival and the Brisbane Festival; CEO and Artistic Director of the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane and the Experimental Art Foundation in Adelaide; and Director of the Australian Centre for Photography Workshop in Sydney. For five years he managed the visual arts and crafts National Infrastructure and Projects Portfolios in the Australia Council. Prior to this he was a professional photographer and teacher for over a decade. He is currently Chairman of Artbank and a Board Member of the Bundanon Trust. He is a Noonuccal, Goenpul and Nughi man from Quandamooka (Moreton Bay, Brisbane) and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Leisure Management from Griffith University. Cameron's background in Indigenous policy and programs includes previous roles as the Senior Indigenous Policy Officer and the Program Manager Sport & Recreation for Brisbane City Council.
