ART FAIR

Art work from more than 150 established, mid-career and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists born or based in Queensland will be on sale at the second Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.

Leading commercial galleries from across Australia will be at Art Fair representing some of the nation's most sought after Indigenous artists, while Indigenous art centres will reveal the next wave of talented painters, sculptors, weavers, printmakers and textile artists.

The discovery of new works from artists at the Indigenous art centres was a highlight for many collectors last year, in particular the debut of Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre's Bagu with Jiman (Firesticks), the Mossman Storycloth textiles from Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime Art Gallery, the new collection of prints from Djumbunji Press and the Lardil artists of Mornington Island Arts.
